Reports have started circulating that the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma has replaced Ibrahim Magu as the new head of the Nigerian antigraft body, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to the Street Journal.  It can be recalled that Magu was widely reported to have been taken in for grilling for over six hours by a presidential panel led by the former President of the appeal court, Justice Ayo Salami, before he was detained at the FCID and finally suspended today, July 7. Magu was accused of corruption, insubordination and abuse of office by the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami Bala Ciroma, prior to becoming FCT CP was described as a shrewd crack detective. He also served as Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department (CIID) of the FCT Police Command. The police authority in Jigawa State have arrested a particular Adamu Hassan, 45, for stabbing his wife to death at Gangawa village in Jahun local government area of the state. SP Abdu Jinjiri who is the police spokesman confirmed the incident to newsmen that the accused allegedly stabbed 25-year-old wife Hauwa Sani to death for an undisclosed reason and took to his heels.       The Suspect The incident was reported to have happened in Jahun LGA area where police received the shocking report on 3/7/2020 at about 11:00am and rushed to the scene.  The victim was taken to a hospital where she was confirmed dead.  Much to the credit and professional superiority of the police, the suspect has since been later tracked and arrested.  The victim has been buried by her relations according to Islamic laws while the case has been taken to CID for further investigation. Home kingdom of Tompolo, Gbaramatu kingdom in Warri South West Local Government Area of Delta state, has issued a four day ultimatum to Federal Government to halt the ongoing bidding process for 57 marginal fields.  The statement emphasised that sons and daughters of the area should be given right of first refusal on fields located in their home town. Coronavirus infections seems to have made the West African state of Nigeria a comfort zone for increased infections as there has been a worrying continuous rise in numbers as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 544 fresh infections on Sunday, July 5. This added numbers announced brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 28,711. Nigeria’s total number of COVID-19 cases stands at 28,711.
