Scary! Covid-19 Cases On A Worrying Increase in Nigeria

Coronavirus infections seems to have made the West African state of Nigeria a comfort zone for increased infections as there has been a worrying continuous rise in numbers as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) reported 544 fresh infections on Sunday, July 5.

This added numbers announced brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 28,711.

According to Sunday's update by the NCDC, cases of COVID-19 were reported in 19 states in the country with the usual leading state, Lagos having the highest number of infections with 199 cases. Ebonyi state in the southeast was next with 65 cases. 

The number of persons discharged after making recovery from the virus stands at 11,665 persons with 645 deaths recorded, according to the NCDC.

Other states which recorded new COVID-19 cases include: Oyo-47; Ondo-46; Ogun-31; Edo-30; Abuja-28; Katsina-25; Plateau-15; Bayelsa-11; Kaduna-10; Adamawa-10; Akwa Ibom-8; Gombe-7; Kano-4; Taraba-3; Rivers-2; Abia-2 and Ekiti-1.
